Operator Assistant - (Bonnyvile & Edmonton)
Job Description
Reporting to the Slickline Operator, the Operator Assistant supports the safe and efficient execution of slickline or SRO (Surface Read Out system) field operations. This includes assisting with equipment preparation, rig-up and rig-out, toolstring assembly, and general field duties. The role involves operating lifting equipment such as picker / boom trucks.
The Operator Assistant is expected to be fit for duty, follow direction from the Operator and perform all tasks safely and competently. They demonstrate a strong commitment to hazard identification, risk awareness, and safe work practices.
Responsibilities include assisting with the inspection, maintenance, and handling of slickline equipment, completing assigned shop duties to support equipment readiness and organization. The Assistant may support technical tasks and assist with job documentation as directed. They maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment on location and in the shop.
The Operator Assistant is expected to learn and develop their skills while supporting the training and mentoring of Trainees under the direction of the Operator. They perform routine equipment inspections and are responsible for identifying defects, wear, and operational concerns, and reporting them appropriately. The role carries the expectation of developing the skills and competency required to advance to Slickline Operator. They must be able to take direction, communicate effectively with crew members, and contribute positively to team performance.
The Operator Assistant participates in the company’s health and safety program, including hazard assessments, safety meetings, and required training.
